Nathalia Berkowitz
We are honoured to have Nathalia as an Ambassador for The Peace Building.
Committed to more peaceful lives, communities, societies and a more peaceful world, Nathalia is a lawyer, mediator, strategic manager, academic and yoga therapist. She’s inspired by working with others to achieve practical and pragmatic solutions to real challenges.
Nathalia has over 20 years of experience working in international and domestic contexts including in conflict and post conflict countries across three continents. Her career includes work for the Council of Europe, the EU External Action Service, UN agencies, NGOs, governments and academia. In conflict and post conflict situations she has worked in justice sector, security sector and criminal justice reform, gender and non-discrimination, human rights and trafficking in persons. This has drawn on her domestic career as a lawyer, legislative drafter and senior court manager, including working on complex cross-border and constitutional issues.
Nathalia has a wealth of experience in capacity building, training and as a teacher. She teaches conflict, culture and negotiation at the University of Salamanca’s Graduate School of Global & International Studies. She has published on legislative reform in post-conflict settings and gender in migration.
Understanding the relationship between inner and outer peace and the impact of trauma, as a yoga therapist (C-IAYT) Nathalia helps peace builders and change makers build coherence and resilience in their lives.
Nathalia obtained a B.Sc. from the London School of Economics and LL.M from London University’s School of African and Oriental Studies. She trained as a mediator with CEDR, BIMA and the ADR Group; she additionally holds qualifications in management from the University of Durham.
