Building a peaceful school
where everyone can flourish

Home > Peace Education > Building a Peaceful School

The Peaceful School Movement: Schools all over the UK are teaching children about peace building – with all kinds of exciting projects and holistic approaches. Our aim is that all schools become peaceful learning environments. That’s why we support schools and the peace-promoting organisations that work with them. The Peaceful Schools Movement is a network of pioneering schools putting peace into practice through peace education and peaceful learning environments. They are creating generations of peacebuilders for a better future. Becoming a Peaceful School is a great opportunity to make your school stand out, to demonstrate your commitment to your pupils’ welfare and to develop your teaching skillset. Here you will find the tools and guidance to help you make your school more peaceful, successful and attractive.

A ‘Peaceful School’ promotes four levels of peace:

1.Inner peace for the individual pupil/student and members of staff;
2.Peaceful relationships and constructive resolution of conflicts;
3.Peaceful school ethos and environment (indoors and outdoors);
4.Peacemaking within the wider community, and the world.
